Apple Pie (Elmalı Tart)

Ingredients
1 cup semolina
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1 stick butter, divided

For filling
4 apples, peeled and shredded
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp sugar
1 cup coarsely chopped walnut

Preparation
Sauté shredded apples in a saucepan until tender. Turn the heat off and stir in sugar, cinnamon and walnuts. Set aside to cool room temperature.

In a large bowl, start with dry ingredients and sift the flour. Add semolina, sugar, baking powder, vanilla sugar (powder) and mix them evenly. Grease 8 inch round cake pan with 1-2 tbsp butter. Divide dry ingredients mixture into 3.

Sprinkle 1/3 of it on the bottom of the prepared pan. Divide apple filling into 2 and spread half of the filling evenly on dry mixture. Finish flour mixture and apple filling like that. Grate the rest of the butter on top of the pie and bake in 350 F preheated oven for about 50-55 minutes or until golden brown.
