According to the VH rule, they're right. But it seems you didn't read the lesson on the plural. Some words don't match the VH rule. They're mentioned at the end of the lesson.

nope. sometimes we say "acılar" for example acıların çocuğu:D it is kind of phrase. i think this phrase was put into our language by Küçük Emrah:D
one of the his song's name is acıların çocuğu and it is a very funny song.
